The dog didn't come to the river as it was bird surveying time and birdwatching is not his strong point. All that creeping along silently and not scaring things is not easy for him. It was just as well as the cows were there and he is terrified of them, while they think he is brilliant and want to get right up close and smell him. We have to pick him up and march past quickly if we come across them.
Otherwise, it has been a day of work and housework. I am in dire need of a nice day out. Maybe an afternoon wandering round Bath or strolling along the front at Clevedon and going to the stationery shop and the book shops. Not complaining though, all is good and I am happy to have the work and a house to do housework in. Some of it (washing the kitchen floor) was necessitated by the littlest boy choking slightly while drinking apple juice. He came into the living room to tell me that he had snorted it out of his nose. Sigh. He sort of cleared it up, but of course the floor was still sticky. There is absolutely never a quiet moment with boys is there?
How did he cope with the tidy room?
ReplyDeleteI love the way you talk about your boys: so many people try to sell us an unrealistic view of parenting when it's mostly a slog with the occasional sublime moments thrown in.
I always smile when I see black and white cows as I’m so used to our brown ones now. Glad you got out to enjoy the sun and count the birds. I’m watching out for the return of the Brent geese to our bay they've started to return to other corners of the island. Like you I had to shed layers in the unexpected heat. Have a lovely Sunday. B x
ReplyDeleteBeautiful photos - maybe show the cow ones to Bertie to desensitise him?! :O) Have fun planning your day out. xx
ReplyDeleteA sunny day was most welcome. It was Bookshop Day yesterday so I hope you celebrated it. xx
ReplyDeleteBeautiful autumn photos. Yes there should be a medal out there for raising three boys! The most important job in the world (slightly biased but IMO!)
ReplyDeleteReally lovely photos, you've captured the light and soft feel of the season beautifully xx
ReplyDeleteA day out in Bath, now that's an idea.
