Chocolate

It's been a bit of a mad week here. Lots of rushing around organising things, lists, appointments, you know the sort of thing. We did find time for an ice-cream at a local garden centre. It's a nice one, animals to feed, ducks on a little pond, space to run around, that sort of thing. The ice-cream is good too.

It looks as though the middle boy's knee is going to be fine, thankfully. Of course, he wants to leap straight back on his scooter.

Look what the children found in the garden.

Pretty impressive no? I think it's a female stage beetle. We've just finished reading Beetle Boy by M G Leonard and loved it, so it was especially apt.

Puppy searching continued apace. As if they're not quite delicious enough as it is, people tend to describe them as chocolate or apricot or cream. Cute as a button with big brown eyes is not enough it seems, there must be a scrumptious food analogy made. I have seen caramel and cinnamon and mocha and coffee. For me, it always has to be chocolate.

Coming soon to a blog near you.

  5. Any bug with a hard shell creeps me out...beetles, crickets, even ladybugs!

Happy to hear your little guy will be okay. Of course he wants to jump back on the scooter, he will wear his scars proudly and continue to worry you to no end!

If this is the dog you own, he/she is delightful! Don't keep us in suspense!

  7. Oh what a gorgeous little piece of chocolate. I just died... WHat breed is it? He or a she? How I wish we could have a pup. For my son. When people come over with their dog pals here, he always tumbles around with them for hours. He is the kind of person that every single dog loves. You know, a dog speaker. Being the brother squished in the middle between two strong headed girls, he doesn't have much of a chance to be "one in the gang..." He is a bit of a loner... Enjoy on the arrival. I will be watching this space for some gorgeous puppy love I can imagine. Happy weekend C.

  10. Ooh! What a cutie! Can't wait to hear more... I'm glad the knee is going to be fine. Are the garden photos of the garden centre? Love that willow tunnel. Stag beetles are incredible. We found an enormous one once – 4cm long at least. They make a loud, droning noise when they fly. Have a lovely weekend. Sam x

  12. Gorgeous garden photos and as for that Pup...! I'm wondering whether your female stag could be a lesser stag. It's a little early for the lesser stag but it's shape doesn't look quite right for a stag to me. I could be wrong. Either way, a lovely find as both species are getting rare (although the stag is the rarer of the two so it would be worth sending the photo to your local wildlife trust to get it id'd and recorded) xx

  13. Just had a look and the PTES have a campaign running to record stag beetles. Worth sending them an email. The time of year is right for the stag so fingers crossed it is one xx
