Blue skies and Easter bunnies

Wasn't Good Friday glorious? All that blue sky and sunshine. We headed for the coast but the traffic was hideous so we changed direction and ended up in Bath. There was a funfair in the park. People were whizzing round upside down and screaming.

We wandered up the hill to some of the higher crescents. Within a couple of hundred yards it went from busy and noisy to complete peace and quiet. If you don't mind the steep climb that's the place to live.

In the centre of Bath there are a few allotment sites on what must incredibly valuable land. I'm always so happy to see them. Look at this one (in the last couple of photos). Out the back of a lovely Georgian terrace, at the edge of Bath Park. They're right next to a pub as well. The plotholders must count their lucky stars.

Back on the home front Easter is being hotly anticipated. I've done the Easter treasure hunt that I always do. It might keep them occupied for an hour if I'm lucky. There are little chocolate bunnies to be eaten at the end. I shall no doubt bake something yummy for tea.

I'm wishing you all a lovely day and a good bank holiday Monday. CJ xx

  1. Wishing you a very good Easter, too. It has taken me by surprise actually. Easter I mean. It is stormy and miserable outside at the moment and an egg treasure hunt is unlikely. Just as well, the little naughties have eaten the small chocolate eggs already.... xx

  2. The crescent houses are one of my very favorite things you have ever shared here and I always look forward to seeing them. When I finally make it to the UK, I hope we can meet up and that you'll take me to Bath. Have a wonderful Easter with your family, my friend.

  4. Oh, I do love Bath; the colour of that stone is gorgeous and those crescent houses always make me happy. We stayed in a lovely hotel there once - R did some work for a company and was paid in hotel vouchers. We split them between Bath and York and had a great time. Good Friday was glorious here too but Easter Sunday looks set to be wet and windy. Have a happy one anyway. xx

  5. Beautiful Bath! And those allotments - it makes our plot next to the re-cycling tip seem a bit drab! Happy Easter :)

Every time I see photos of Bath I am transported back to 1994. I fell in love in Bath.
Happy Easter to you and yours, my friend.

  8. Sounds (and looks) like a very good (apart from the traffic jams) Good Friday. I've never visited Bath - it's such a trek from this bit on the north east coast - so really appreciate your pictures and words. But I'm one step ahead of you with the Easter baking (not at all smug!) as there's a very small, lopsided Simnel cake sitting in the kitchen (probably just for me as the other two here refuse to eat 'that vegan muck'). Happy Easter!

  10. Happy Easter CJ and thanks for sharing your photos of Bath. Last time I was there with my daughter we walked the Bath Skyline which affords the most stunning views of the city. We spent Friday gardening and lazing around at the cottage which was rather lovely.

  12. Happy Easter CJ, to you and yours! It's crept up on me this year, I was totally unprepared. Lovely Good Friday in Leicestershire too, but Easter Saturday was a hideous day weather wise.
Particularly like that last capture... and didn't know they had allotments in the centre of Bath. You have educated me. Enjoy Sunday, and don't eat too much chocolate! :-)

  14. It sounds like your detour to Bath ended up being a good one. I see allotments in Vancouver and am so happy they manage to exist in a place where even the most run-down little house is worth well over a million dollars. It makes my gardener's heart quite happy. Happy Easter!

  17. Hope your boys had a happy hunt...for an hour. My granddaughters dyed eggs with one of their aunties yesterday only auntie did not boil the eggs first. So the girls had fun coloring the eggs and then auntie boiled the eggs to make egg salad! Thanks for the lovely photos, CJ. Happy Easter. xx

  20. I love getting to be a little fly on the wall to your gorgeous adventures around a place I've always wanted to visit! Your easter celebrations make me very excited to do something similar for Avalon when she's older. Happiest Easter CJ and family! <3

  21. We always head away from the tourist areas at bank holidays. It looks as if you made a good choice going to Bath. This is the first year we haven't had an Easter egg hunt, now the children are in their mid 20's they are out growing it! Hope you had a wonderful Easter. Sarah x

  22. Such lovely photos of Bath in the sunshine - it always looks like such a good looking city, statuesque, if you know what I mean.

I forgot all about the egg hunt (much to Angus's dismay - guilt!) but luckily my mum had it all under control: 48 eggs well hidden in her back garden for 6 grandchildren. xx

  26. I love how you were able to just switch up your plans and find other diversions to enjoy your day. Sure beats sitting in traffic! The area looks beautiful--love all the daffodils. Hoping you had a wonderful Easter and that the egg hunt allowed you some uninterrupted quiet time:) I've been keeping up with all your posts, and I always love reading them:) I'm really trying to get some posts up on my blog, but it seems like I've been falling behind lately. Hope you're having a wonderful day, CJ!

  27. I love Bath. Don't know if you have come across the blog of a friend of mine, Ms Caroline, an American ex pat who has come to Bath via Seoul. Lovely, lovely blog. As you did, much of my Easter was involved in producing something good to eat, always a big deal in my family and a source of much satisfaction for me or whoever else is cooking.
