Berries, moss, a bit of wind and the mysterious cosmic power of FC
How I love a walk in the countryside. It's been a while since we've laced on our boots and gone out on an adventure. There's something particularly magical about a winter walk. All that soft grey light. I love to hurry back as the sun sets after lamps come on in cottage windows.
It was really windy up on the top of the ridge. By the beacon the boys were leaning into the wind at about 45 degrees. They loved it of course.
Father Christmas came round tonight in his sleigh with his friends from the local Round Table. When he came to the door to see if we'd been naughty or nice, the internet connection cut out. It didn't come back until he was a street or two away. I think he is channelling some sort of cosmic interference. Hardly surprising giving his mysterious powers. He may be headed your way next, so do watch out.

I hope your garden has escaped damage from the storms CJ, the wind has been brutal. So that's why our internet is so bad, Santa must have moved all his elves down here.
ReplyDeleteGorgeous photos and wonderful views CJ. Glad you got out for a walk with your boys.

Love the photos of your walk, it looks mystical and mysterious out. Of that Father Christmas, he is a character isn't he?
ReplyDeleteHugs to you,
Meredith
How exciting that FC has already been for a visit! Three of my little granddaughters, their dad and I went on a holly hunting hike around our ponds yesterday in between rain showers. Your hike was on a grander scale and wonderful to see. I hope to post some photos from our hike, maybe tomorrow. It was great to be out and about in the fresh, wet, but not too cold air yesterday, and we found some holly and moss, too, across the pond from you. Now to watch for FC....... xx
ReplyDeleteI loved following along on your walk with you and enjoyed the trees and mosses and berries.. and I didn't even have to leave my easy chair to enjoy it all.. thanks! LOL! I've been writing addresses in red and green ink all day.. there might be one in there for you!

What a beautiful walk. I wonder what FC was up to...he's so mysterious. Around here, he seems to be inspiring wild fantasies. Just yesterday, I was told that he can turn himself into anything he wants, even a bird! He's out there watching, in any number of forms.
ReplyDeletewow CJ, these are some of your most magical photos. they are just wonderful.
ReplyDeleteI am playing catch up with your posts (forgive me) - they are just as thoughtful and lovely a few days late :-)
You certainly have a good eye for your photos. I think my favorite in this batch is the cut pine tree. But, really ......they are ALL beautiful.
ReplyDeleteGorgeous photos, as always. Our cul de sac had a visit from Father Christmas and his merry Round Table helpers this evening. We have lived in our house for 34 years and enjoyed this experience every one of those years. Firstly with our own children when they were small, last year our little granddaughter was here and our neighbours' three granddaughters which was very exciting. This year no children but still lovely.
ReplyDeleteGorgeous photos and it looks like a really lovely walk. Very windy here too over the weekend - great for getting all that washing dry. FC is certainly mysterious - I just hope he leaves our internet alone until E has finished her biology coursework! Have a great week. xx
ReplyDeleteWe're having an awful lot of internet problems over the last week - hope that means he's paying us some extra attention! I think the Round Table FC will be in our road this evening. Your walk looks very brisk and blowy, and your photos are gorgeously wintry.

It always looks so beautiful where you live. Of course, it's so well photographed...
ReplyDeleteWe got out yesterday for a bit, just in the garden. The sheep came to the gate which delighted Joe and his cousin.
As for FC, there was a grotto at the garden centre when we went for our tree but Santa looked a bit closely shaven to me. Maybe he's trying out a new look?

A beautiful walk you really have captured some stunning photos. The internet has been a little dodgy around here too, it hadn't occurred to me that it may be Father Christmas.....
ReplyDeleteHe's due around here the Sunday before Christmas, I still get excited to see him roll up in his sleigh even though I've no littlies to take out to see him any longer. Your photos are lovely, the wind's died down here now, thank goodness, though my greenhouse didn't get away unscathed, there were bits of it in neighbour's gardens and one piece is still missing.
ReplyDeleteLovely to see the countryside where you are and the close-up photos of the moss and lichen-covered log is beautiful. It's always good to blow the cobwebs away. Sam x
ReplyDeleteGood, and interesting, pictures. I like walking in the winter as well as long as it's not wet and windy. Have a good week. Flighty xx
ReplyDeleteWhat a cool photos you do! I do love walks in the countryside. It's the most relaxing thing. Besides my friend from essay-writer-club lives in the countryside and he really enjoys living there even if he has to do a long rides to his work in the center of the city.
ReplyDeleteHey CJ,
ReplyDeleteFC came to t Ives via the sea on Friday evening. Unfortunately we weren't there to see it, but the camels that pulled his sled up the slipway were very narky. I do like a narky camel. Gorgeous pictures. Me and the boys need a blustery walk. Perhaps we will be able to have one at the weekend. Rain is stopping play rather.

Super photos CJ - and oh I do love it when FC comes round from the Round Table, I get so excited!! Boy, was it windy!
ReplyDeleteCaz xx
Blimey! I'm impressed with FC's hold over The Energies, but as you say, it does make sense. Lovely photos my dear xx
ReplyDeleteI love your photos of green moss and red berries - they look very festive. No sightings of FC here yet but we are keeping a look out!
ReplyDeleteA lovely winter walk. And you're right. The light is soft and gray. Comforting.
ReplyDeleteFun pictures CJ, especially the hill with the steps. We've been taking some evening strolls after dark and it is interesting to have a chance to peek (spy) into peoples homes that are all lit up inside.
ReplyDeleteA lovely walk, I hope the wind hasn't been causing to many problems for you x
ReplyDeleteHow magical! How lovely! The weather sounds so amazing, and to have that countryside so close by seems like a gift as well! Happy Christmas season CJ!
ReplyDeleteIt must have be fun feeling the power of the wind up on the ridge. Father Christmas does have magical powers and must have had everyone's full attention with no competition with the internet. He is heading this way,but I won't sadly be here to see him! Sarah x
ReplyDeleteHow lovely to get up high and feel the power of the wind. I do hope all the wind power stations have been able to store lots of energy for the winter months. It is so important to work with nature, whatever she throws at us. We didn't get up our hill at the weekend, but like you I love walking around a village at dusk sniffing the woodsmoke and seeing the lamps lit.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful photos and wonderful views of yhe countryside dear C.J., there is something magical about cool Winter days and gray skies.
ReplyDeletexoxoxo
I could do with some of FC's magic right now.....
ReplyDeleteExcellent photos. Your part of the world often looks quite Arthurian and mystical, with all your woods and streams. Or maybe it's just your skill with the camera. :-) xx
ReplyDeleteLove these photos, sorry that I haven't been commenting much recently but I'm finding a large blocks of text difficult to read.
