Thanks, cows, rain

The loveliest part of blogging is all of the connections made.  Finding people with similar passions, learning, always learning, and making friends.  So I just wanted to say, thank you all for visiting here, and also for commenting.  I love your comments, they make me laugh, their buoy me up when I need it and they answer questions when I have them.

Comments lately have been lovely.  I now have lots of tips about pocket money, some fantastic recipe ideas and a recommendation for a risque boxed set or two.  I know who has red shoes, why I don't have much plum blossom and who cleans the bathroom naked (you know who you are).  So thank you, it is all very much appreciated.

We went for a little stroll by the canal today.  Only a little one, but it was good nonetheless.  A cow looked over the hedge at us.  We looked back at the cow.  After a few minutes all of the other cows came to see what the first cow was looking at.  We all stood there looking at other and wondering what the others were thinking.

The middle boy is camping tonight.  It's been raining since about five o'clock.  I have the utmost admiration for people who camp in the rain.  The adults on the camp are amazing and wonderful people.  Oh it's so lovely and warm and cosy here, with the rain pattering against the window.  I think I might go and get a hot water bottle in a moment.  I fell over today while spinning the littlest boy round at top speed.  I think I got dizzy.  It was at exactly the same place where I sat down on a seat that wasn't there a few weeks ago.  Again, everyone saw, it was fairly spectacular as he was screaming and laughing with the thrill of it all, so I've a feeling we made quite a splash as we hit the deck.  I pulled something, so I feel I probably deserve a hot water bottle.  And maybe a nice hot drink and a dab of essential oils about the place.  Oh it's scrumptious inside.  Wishing you all a very good Sunday.  CJ xx

  1. Oh dear, camping in the rain is really not fun. You'll have loads of damp smelly washing when he gets home.. A hot water bottle sounds like a very good idea indeed. And an extra blanket?

  2. Gosh, I hope you're okay. You definitely do deserve that hot-water bottle. I'm always intrigued by their use because I rarely hear of anyone here having or using one and I'd like to try it. I'd even crochet an adorable cover for it. I love that cow looking at you over the hedge, he looks very curious! I hope you're having a good weekend, aside from the fall. :)

  3. Yes, your day was definitely more interesting than mine! Sorry to hear about your tumble. Hot water bottle and a hot chocolate with a splash of Baileys in it will make it better, I'm sure. Those cows are hilarious, I wonder what they were thinking? Have a super Sunday CJ xx

  5. Your poor backside! I overdid with the exercise yesterday and have a sore back today. I am trying to be careful when picking up Little Buddy. I go from no exercise to a LOT and wonder why my back hurt! Love, love, love the cow photos. I think they were commenting on the people staring back at them. By the way I always clean the shower while I am taking a shower, it helps that I am already wet.
    Hugs,
    Meredith

  7. Clair, the cow photo made me laugh out loud and then the next one made me hoot! I made Dayle pick up his computer to read your blog right straight away.. and you know what he said? "You know, she's one of my favorites." I thought you'd like to hear that. Did you get something red yet? Take care of yourself. Oh.. and I fell again leaving the hotel in New Orleans.. flat on my face. I think we have a lot in common. ((hugs)), Teresa :-)

  8. What a gorgeous boat; I love all the masts and wood and those cows are brilliant - I bet you could sell a card with that photo on! Sorry about your fall - definitely warm drink and hot water bottle time. I've a feeling your son might need one tomorrow too! Enjoy the rest of the weekend. xx

  9. connections are indeed the best part of blogging. I'm thankful that you blog.
hope the hot water bottle worked it's magic, ouch x
my boy is camping. it poured with rain all friday night and most of yesterday, and then brightened up for the evening, which meant with clear skies the temperatures plummetted and it was only 2 degrees at midnight........ brrrrrrrr.
today is sunny which means he'll forget to put his suncream on, and burn (he is Very fair and I know he forgot to pack his baseball cap)

  10. I love the cow photos. I just love their nosy faces. Are you feeling better this morning? I hope you got to snuggle down comfortably with a hot water bottle. I'm afraid I'd have gone with wine rather than a hot drink! :)
Matt loves camping in any weather - not my idea of fun, but I'm sure middle boy will have had a great time. It seems to me they often enjoy the challenge of bad weather more. x

  11. Cows are so nosy aren't they? Quite timid but very curious. They're the curtain twitchers of the animal world.
Hope you're not too sore after that tumble. We still have a stair gate up and I have a permanent bruise on my hip from bashing into it every single time I walk through it.
Glad you had a cosy evening. Hopefully the soggy camping trip was more of an adventure than an ordeal... I haven't camped since going to T in the Park in 2008 and getting absolutely sodden.
Proper toilets and a real bed for me thankyou very much.
    Have a great Sunday x

  13. Hey CJ,
Olly loves to be spun. I wonder if I would like it, you know, if I could find someone strong enough to spin me. And yes, this community of connection is one that I treasure too.
Have a lovely week, my friend. I have ordered the popping corn. Olly is very excited.

  15. I'm glad it isn't just me that takes photos of cows - in fact I take photos of anything. The cows were thinking - "Did you say someone cleans the bathroom naked - by the way what exactly is a bathroom?"
Also thank you for visiting my blog and commenting - yours is a pleasure to read and join in the fun you have. I hope you fully recover from the fall but am a tad disappointed that one of the other boys didn't take a photo.

  16. I shouldn't laugh at the thought of you falling down but I'm afraid I did. I do hope, though, that the hurt something isn't significant. One of my most favourite things is to be inside when it's raining- love the sound of raindrops on windows. Hope the camping out went well and that you have a good week my friend xx

  17. I love that photo of the cow, and the fact that the rest of them joined in looking at you over the hedge. Hope the camping in the rain went well and that you're not feeling too bad after your fall, I find it's usually the following day when you feel the full effect of any mishap so I think you should have today taking it easy.

  18. (blushing) The cow picture is priceless. I am also eternally grateful for all those Beaver, Cub, Scout and Explorer leaders who take my children for camping trips when I don't feel like it. We regularly camp but it is less adventurous than Scouts stuff. I hope you enjoyed your hot water bottle and a rub of essential oils! I am glad you are able to see the funny side of you mishaps and hope you'll never get hurt seriously. My man stumbled down the stairs last week (he blames his crocs) and I nearly fainted with worry because I thought he'd impaled himself on the fence. He didn't and we all had a good laugh. The relief I guess. He does look like a middle weight boxer after a lost fight. Have a lovely accident free week my friend. x

  23. A most enjoyable post and lovely pictures, I especially like the boat. I always think that comments are the icing on the blog so to speak! My memories of camping are, for the most part, not really happy ones.
I hope that you're okay, and having a relaxing day today. Flighty xx

  24. A bit of TLC seems well deserved! I love photographs of curious cows, and ships! Now I have to go back over your recent blog posts to find out about the plums (and maybe I'll come across the bathroom one, too...)! Have a nice evening!

  25. The cow photos are brilliant! I have to say that I grew up with family camping holidays, and as a result am a bit of a fair-weather camper - not sure why. I'm always worried that the tent will leak when it rains, but it can be very cosy, nevertheless. Hope you recover from your fall soon :)

  41. Great blog as always, I think I'd get dizzy and fall over too, infact I did when mine were little, now they are all 3 big enought to lift me up and put me somewhere else! Cows are so funny and nosy aren't they, I have a similar photo, and after I'd taken that photo they followed me the length of the field, it's the small things that make our lives great x
