We went to a little display put on by the eldest's cub pack. At the end everyone (under twelve) got to wave a sparkler around.
It made us inordinately happy, even those of us with colds who didn't initially fancy going out.
Back soon with a little bread. I've got a cracking book from the library and I'm bubbling away a sourdough starter and whipping up rolls like you wouldn't believe. Hope you all had a good evening.
Love the pictures of the fireworks, they are so hard to photograph, you did a great job. I also love seeing all the pictures of your little ones exploring.

DeleteThe only problem with bonfire night around our parts is that it goes on for over a week. Gone are the days when it was only allowed on 5 November or moved to a different day if the 5th was on a Sunday when it wasn't allowed. I just feel sorry for the pets that are frightened by all the banging.

DeleteArchie has been a nervous wreck all week, the fireworks have been banging every night and no doubt they'll carry on all week as there's more displays planned for this coming weekend. Glad you enjoyed it and hope your cold's better soon.

DeleteI've always been intrigued by this holiday because nobody celebrates it here. I think it would be fun though, and why not, it seems like a good cause. I'm glad you had fun and I hope you're feeling better soon.
ReplyDeleteThe children always love it, and some of the organised displays are fantastic. The food's pretty good too - sausages, jacket potatoes, pumpkin soup, baked apples, that kind of thing. Yum.

DeleteSounds like you all had loads of fun! I enjoyed watching displays of fireworks from my kitchen window and am grateful that not too many 'rogue' bangers were let off around the neighbourhood. That was enough for me, although I do miss the fireworks night parties that I went to before living in London - lovely sausages and jacket potatoes, sparklers and fun! Looking forward to hearing about your bread making!

Aah, Olly sounds adorable. Fireworks can be scarily loud sometimes. Bristol Zoo do a bangless display every year, and our local park have a children's display before the main event which is nice for the little people. When the big display starts, you can feel the ground shake!
